Eero Aarnio, a Finnish designer born in 1932, pursued studies at the Institute of Industrial Arts in Helsinki from 1954 to 1957. He established his own design office in 1962, specializing in interior and industrial design.

In the realm of innovative furniture ideas, he conceived the Ball Chair in 1963, which later went into production. The use of fiberglass as a material and the unique shape were groundbreaking for the furniture industry at that time.

In subsequent years, Aarnio developed a fondness for fiberglass, a material commonly used in boat construction. The durable and versatile nature of fiberglass allowed him to design ergonomic and intriguing forms without limitations. His creations like the Pastil Chair (winner of the American Industrial Design Award in 1968) and the Tomato Chair brought him international recognition. These chairs could be used indoors, outdoors, and even floated on water. The Pastil Chair redefined the concept of a rocking chair, offering a fresh and extraordinary experience.

Eero Aarnio’s influence continues, with ongoing design projects in furniture and toys for children. He has established an official webshop and the first Design Eero Aarnio Showroom in Helsinki, where you can explore his latest designs, prototypes, and updates.
