Classic Design:

The RAR is part of a series of chairs with a shell seat of polyester reinforced with glass fiber — a material developed by the US army in the second world war. The seat could be attached to a number of bases, including a wooden rocker (RAR stands for “rocking armchair rod”). Designed in 1948 for the New York Museum of Modern Art’s low-cost furniture design competition, the chairs were in production at US firm Herman Miller until 1968.

A perfect resting place, the smooth plastic shell embraces and the gentle rocking soothes. Fitting for a number of locations, such as the living room as an alternative to Eames lounge chairs & Ottoman, the hallway, or conservatory, the iconic form provides a relaxing space of timeless style and comfort, the RAR Plastic Rocking Chair is a standout piece that can beautifully brighten up a room.
